Welcome to Cobthorn

The Cobthorn Trust was formed in 1986, originally to support and promote the long established conservation activities at Cobthorn Farm in Somerset. Cobthorn Farm has been involved in rare breed farming since 1959 and since 1976 the farm has been organic.

The Trust is a non profit making private Trust dedicated to all aspects of the conservation of man’s commensal and food species, their farm environments, their related wild species and their environments, both terrestrial and marine. Over the years the Trust’s activities have grown to include the support and encouragement of students in all aspects of conservation biology.

The aims of the Cobthorn Trust are as follows:

• To perpetuate active conservation and research of domestic breeds and their wild relatives.
• To develop and implement integrated conservation of the agricultural and natural environments.
• To promote environmental awareness and sustainable development with an emphasis on sustainable food production.
